we help leaders build discipleship communities
OUR MISSION IS TO HELP LEADERS WALK WITH PEOPLE INTO COMMUNAL DISCIPLESHIP
Discipleship is communal.
When we look at Jesus’ example, we see that He did not invite people into purely one on one relationships - He invited them to be a part of a new family. It was by participation in this family that its members received His salvation and in turn, shared it with the whole world.
In reality though, most of us don’t experience the Church as family - we experience it as a confusing jumble of teachings and commandments with little clear connection to our real, everyday lives.
It’s our responsibility as Christians to contextualize Jesus’ example and the teaching of the Church into a particular time and particular place, not just for individuals but for entire communities.
This is why Becoming Love exists. We want to contextualize the teachings of the Church for communities in our cultural moment so that every Catholic can experience the transformation Jesus offers.
OUR APPROACH
Discipline, heart, environment.
Conversations about small groups tend to go wrong when they miss one of these three components.
Discipline involves the individual practices and habits we take up in our own lives. These strengthen our own faith but they also build up the life of the community by our witness and the transformation in our character.
Heart is the place we approach our faith from. We can do all the right things but if we do them from a place of bitterness, scrupulosity, or fear they do more to deform us than transform us. The underlying heart behind all our spiritual life should be love.
Environment is the culture and relationships that shape and form us. It’s these invisible forces that do the work of implicit formation, changing us simply by our participation in the life of the community.
All of them have to work together if we want genuine transformation.

Resource Toolbox
Our resource toolbox is designed from the ground up to help form leaders to build and shepherd their small group in the right direction and to train small group members for community life.
You can expect to find courses, tools, and one off resources spanning a range of formational topics, from basic catechesis to the Liturgical year, to sustainable rhythms of work and mission.

The Disciple’s Agreement
The Disciple’s Agreement is our foundational resource. Written as an overview of community life, it’s a clear spelling-out of how individuals should live in community and what kind of culture a community must create for its members to thrive. This resource is a great starting point, a baseline for small groups and discipleship communities that are just getting started. You can follow along as it’s being released, chapter by chapter, on Substack.
